Cloudflare Continues Upward Trajectory as GoDaddy and Namecheap Maintain Lead in Latest .com Registrar Report

Namecheap holds the second position for total .com management with 13,895,874 domains. Unlike GoDaddy, Namecheap is showing a year-over-year increase in its total portfolio, narrowing the gap between itself and the market leader, albeit slowly. Newfold Digital, the parent company of brands like Bluehost and HostGator, remains in third place with 10,128,441 domains, but it continues to see its total count decline annually.

Squarespace and Tucows round out the top five for total DUM. Squarespace, currently in fourth with 9,556,132 domains, is on an upward trajectory, while Tucows, in fifth with 9,373,650 domains, is seeing a year-over-year decrease. The performance of Squarespace is particularly noteworthy as it integrates its domain business more deeply with its website-building platform, a strategy that appears to be yielding high retention and steady growth.

Cloudflare’s rise is also evident in the total DUM rankings. It currently sits at 11th place with 3,525,525 domains, having moved up from 12th place the prior month. Cloudflare’s year-over-year growth suggests it will likely break into the top ten in the near future, potentially displacing Alibaba, which currently holds the 10th spot but is experiencing a year-over-year decline in its .com portfolio.

.Com report: Cloudflare keeps climbing

Other notable players in the top 15 for total management include IONOS with over 6 million domains, Gname with nearly 5 million, and TurnCommerce with 4.3 million. The data shows a clear divide between registrars that are growing their portfolios—such as Namecheap, Squarespace, IONOS, and Cloudflare—and those that are in a state of contraction, such as Newfold Digital and Tucows.

The Year of Growth: Identifying the Top Gainers in the Namespace

A registrar’s net growth is the most accurate measure of its overall health, accounting for new registrations, renewals, and transfers. The data for the twelve months ending June 2026 identifies Namecheap as the industry’s top gainer. The registrar added a net total of 2,280,580 .com domains to its management over the past year. This achievement underscores Namecheap’s ability to not only attract new customers but also to retain existing ones and win over transfers from competitors.

Cloudflare follows as the second-highest gainer, with a net increase of 1,626,866 domains over the year. Cloudflare’s growth is particularly impressive given its relatively recent entry into the registrar space compared to legacy providers. Its transparency regarding pricing and its reputation for technical excellence have made it a preferred destination for users moving away from traditional registrars.

Hostinger and Squarespace also posted seven-figure gains over the past twelve months. Hostinger added 1,447,059 domains, while Squarespace increased its count by 1,036,001. These companies have successfully leveraged their core offerings—web hosting and site building, respectively—to become major players in the domain registration market.
