Omnissa Appoints Industry Veteran Amit Singh as CEO to Lead Expansion into Agentic AI and Secure Digital Workspaces

Angad Singh, co-head of software private equity in North America at KKR and a member of Omnissa’s Board of Directors, highlighted the strategic importance of the hire. "Amit has helped build two of the defining enterprise platforms of the last 20 years," he noted, referring to Singh’s contributions at Google Cloud and Palo Alto Networks.

The board’s confidence in Singh is rooted in the belief that the next great shift in enterprise IT will be driven by AI agents. As these autonomous or semi-autonomous tools become more prevalent, the platforms used to manage and secure them will become the most valuable assets in the enterprise stack. "The company is uniquely well positioned as AI agents increasingly handle that work and every enterprise considers how to safely harness AI technology," Angad Singh added. "Amit is the right leader to help Omnissa make the most of this tremendous opportunity."

The Rise of Agentic Endpoints Across the Enterprise

The core of Amit Singh’s mandate at Omnissa revolves around the concept of "agentic AI" and its impact on the hardware used by employees every day. In his new role, Singh is tasked with accelerating Omnissa’s momentum as endpoints—such as laptops, smartphones, and tablets—evolve from mere access points into critical security control planes.

Commenting on his new position, Singh described the current state of the industry as a "pivotal moment." He suggested that the transition to agentic AI is not merely a trend, but a fundamental transformation in the mechanics of modern work. "The shift to agentic AI is transforming how work gets done, and the endpoint is at the center of that transformation," Singh explained.

The term "agentic AI" refers to AI systems that do not just provide information or generate text, but possess the ability to take actions, make decisions, and interact with other software systems on behalf of a user. Singh predicts that this shift will happen with remarkable speed. According to his projections, every laptop and phone within a modern enterprise network will function as an agentic endpoint within just one year. These devices will run multiple AI agents, each operating with the identity, permissions, and access rights of the individual user.

This evolution presents a significant challenge for Chief Information Officers (CIOs) and Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs). If an AI agent can act with the authority of a human employee, the potential for security breaches, data leakage, or unauthorized actions increases exponentially. Singh views this as Omnissa’s primary opportunity.

Parallels to the Mobile Revolution

In articulating his vision, Singh drew a direct parallel between the current AI surge and the "Bring Your Own Device" (BYOD) revolution of the early 2010s. During that era, the sudden influx of personal smartphones and tablets into the workplace forced enterprises to rethink their security perimeters. Rather than building entirely new infrastructures from scratch, most successful companies extended their existing management platforms to encompass these new mobile endpoints.
